Poza de Barro (mud thermal bath):
Delicious natural baths with high temperatures and healing properties. The mud bath is located northeast of Mancora. There are four possible ways to get there: moto taxi (30min), horseback (2hrs) and hiking (4hrs). Check the map.

Hervideros (thermal baths):
Some rustic pools of warm water make up the place known as Hervideros. Located near Zorritos, on Quebrada Bocapán. Just five minutes from the Panamerican Highway, this pools are well know at Tumbes and they have some healing (skin) properties.
Pilares of Quebrada Fernandez:
To the west of the Poza de Barro you reach the marvelous little community known as Fernandez. There where the river bends on its way to the ocean you will find beautiful natural baths fed by waterfalls. The surrounding landscape of giant boulders and birds is ideal for a night or two in a tent.
National Sanctuary Manglares of Tumbes :
Only 120 kilometers north of Mancora lies the small fishing village of Puerto Pizarro, famous for it’s Conchas Negras (Black Shells) a Peruvian delicacy. Here the mixing of fresh and salt water caused by the convergence of the Tumbes River with the sea, creates the perfect natural environment for the Manglares (Mangroves). The area of 2972 hectares knows as Los Manglares de Tumbes, was created in 1988 and protects a wide variety of flora and fauna. Conchas Negras are found in the roots of the Mangrove trees. You can visit the near by Island de Amor (island of love) and Isla de los Parajos (island of birds) by motorboat.
Zona Reservada de Tumbes (Reserve Zone of Tumbes) :
With a total area of 71500 hectares, the Reserve Zone of Tumbes is a mix of weathers, where the “Dry and Tropical Forest meet. With unique species of plants and animals, this is a marvelous trip.
Parque Nacional Cerros de Amotape (National Park Moutain of Amotape) :
With more than 90.000 hectares that belongs to Piura and Tumbes department, this National Park is declared by UNESCO as the “Biosphere Reservation” of the Norwest of Peru. The vegetation classified as Bosque Seco Ecuatorial (Ecuadorian Dry Forest) offer to the visit big Algarrobo trees, nice Ceibos, many walk roads and archeological stuff from the old Tallan Culture.
Catacaos:
Founded in 1645, the picture perfect town of Catacaos lies just 18 kilometers from Piura. Here the streets are loaded with stores that sell a wide variety of local arts and crafts. You will find beautiful works in silver and gold as well as hats and strew weavings. Catacaos is considered the artistic capital of the north.
