César Augusto Lama Peña nació un 31 de diciembre de 1958 en Máncora, un pequeño y mágico balneario ubicado al norte del Perú. “Peña”, como se le conoce, pinta de manera muy prolija desde los 19 años, Luego de un tiempo, decide ingresar a la Escuela Regional de Bellas Artes de Piura (3 años). Luego decide emigrar a Lima donde estudia cinco años en la Escuela Autónoma de Bellas Artes de Lima. Peña se inspira principalmente en lo que ve en su pequeño pueblo: pesadores en faenas como varadas de balsas, mujeres por la playa acarreando cestas, pescados recién salidos de la red y en general todo lo relacionado al mar, la pesca y la vida en Máncora. César Augusto Lama was born on December 31 of 1958 in Mancora, a little and magical beach located on the north of Peru. "Peña", as everyone call, paint really good from the age of 19. Then he decided to go and studied at the Escuela Regional de Bellas Artes at Piura city, north of Peru (3 years). Then he went to Lima, where he studied for five years at the Escuela Autónoma de Bellas Artes. Peña inspired mostly what he see on Mancora: fishermen doing their work like taking out boat from the sea, woman with baskets walking down the beach, seafood, fishermen nets and all the things that are relationship with the sea, the fishing and the life at Mancora beach.

"Caminando por nuestras playas norteñas apreciamos el encanto del trabajo en las intimidades marinas, la hermosura - tanto de la llegada como de la despedida - de cada día y el aroma saludable del mar y sus tesoros. Salido de la tibieza de esas aguas apareció un día un persona afanoso en disfrutar del color y las formas desplegadas en las jornadas de los días.

Sus pies se fueron nutriendo, remojándose entre arenas y peñascos y emprendió la marcha acompañado del aleteo y el canto de las aves.

Empezó su formación para entregar lo acumulado en los años de niñez.

Y pasó por diferentes centros de enseñanza hasta llegar a la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. César Lama Peña, es un caminante ue ha construido su propia nave y creado su propio mar para entregarnos sus visiones inmensamente cotidianas s con su voz tanto simple como intensa.

Peñita, como lo llamamos, ha logrado conseguir en cada hora la armonía familiar de un color cálido, norteño y totalmente peruano. Sus elementos inundan sincronizadamente los espacios, haciendo escenas palpitantes de vida y esperanza.

Trabajador como lo que es: un obrero del arte, prolífico por su búsqueda permanente, tiene su taller saturado de lienzos, bastidores, bocetos y el aroma de disolventes agradables por el destino que tienen de provocar la creación de obras que contribuirán a hacernos más sensibles, más humanos con nosotros mismos. Así contribuye Peña a la formación de una identidad necesaria en estos tiempos de desconcierto e indiferencia.

Vale su trabajo por lo que sabe y por lo que seguirá aprendiendo para entregarnos los bellos aspectos de la vida en continuo trajinar. Está seguro de poseer la nave que ha sabido manejar para emprender la difícil travesía y arribar al mundo del color que para disfrutarlo nos entrega con su norteña generosidad.

“Walking on our northern beaches we appreciate a work with charm on intimate ocean, the beauty, on welcome and goodbye situations, on each day and the healthy aroma of the sea and its treasures. Coming out of this warm ocean one day appear this laborious person on enjoying colors and shapes of working days here at the north coast.

His foot where nourishing, dunking between sand and rocks. He began his career between flippers and the sing of the birds, giving everything he accumulated on his childhood years.

He cross through different teaching points until he reach the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. César Lama Peña, is a walking man that have constructed his own ship and creates his own ocean to give us his typical visions with his voice, so simple and intense.

“Peñita” as we known him, has acclaim on each hour the family harmony on a warm, northern color, absolutely Peruvian. His elements synchronized and combine the spaces, making palpitating scenes of life and hope.

Worker as what he is: a art mill hand, prolific on this permanent search, he has his workshop full of canvas, frameworks, outlines and the aroma of solvents that are nice when you see then the final creation that they made, full of sensitivity and humanity.
This is the contribution of Peña to the formation of an identity necessary on these days of indifference and discomfiture.
His works are worth for what he knows and for what we will be learning to give us beautiful aspects of life. He is so sure to own this ship that he has been riding on a difficult trip and reach a world of colors that now is the time for us to enjoy his generous northern way.”
