A curious turtle came out of the ocean, walked on the white sand to find the perfect spot to lay her eggs and she found it just in front of our hotel at 10pm on Saturday October 1st. In order to preserve this precious gift, DCO asked an expert animal institution to protect and guard them as you can see in the picture. |

October 20th, 2011: On October 13, 2011 has begun the closure ("veda") of octopus in Mancora and all Peru. The Ministry of Production of Peru banned the extraction, processing, transport and / or marketing of the octopus for the next 3 months. If you come to Mancora please do not ask for octopus. Restaurants cannot offer octopus on their menu or dishes during this period of time. September 5th, 2011: Mancora is in normal conditions for tourism. All the hotels, lodges and restaurants are running without any problem. We clear this out, as some media have indicated that Mancora is in a "state of emergency by abnormal surges that have destroyed part of the boardwalk and some other stores." None of this is happening now, and although it does indeed have been damage on some structures of the new boardwalk and some accommodations nearby, this is because all of these damaged buildings have been built in areas where anything should be built: on the beach Mancora. It only took a big swell with high tides to verify that those constructions have been made without any planning and should always respect the boundaries of the beach.

March 13th, 2011: The impact of the Tsunami experienced in Japan on March 11th, had no great repercussions in Mancora and surrounding beaches.
March 13th, 2011 (Vivamancora.com Edition): The impact of the Tsunami experienced in Japan on March 11th, had no great repercussions in Mancora and surrounding beaches. There was a precautionary evacuation in homes and hotels located in the front rows on the seafront at Mancora, both local and tourists. From 22hrs00 came in several abnormal waves no bigger than 50 cm, with no extreme power, however some facilities sustained minor damage (no structural) and flooding of certain environments and some smaller structures collapsed. So far, no injuries were reported in Mancora. The next day (March 12, 2011) Mancora and all surrounding beaches such as Punta Sal, Vichayito, Pocitas, Los Organos, Lobitos, etc ... slowly returned to normal, with tourists swimming in the sea and even medium-wave surfing at different points on the area.. Colan Beach (located over 150 kms of Mancora) suffered more damage. We have been informed that there was no reported damage at Zorritos beach. Buses Cruz del Sur announced its new route Mancora - Guayaquil (Ecuador). This section is always in great demand by tourists, connecting the classic route Mancora beach - Montanita, plus connect Mancora with Guayaquil International Airport making more comfortable the migratory movement of tourists between the two borders.
